HP today announced it will integrate Sprint mobile broadband capabilities into several of their business notebook computers, jointly marketing HP business notebooks that take advantage of the fast data speeds of the 3G EV-DO network.
All of HP’s new business notebooks feature HP security features like Drive Encryption DuraKeys and QuickLook, which allows users to browse email, calendars and contact information with a touch of a
button in under 10 seconds. The HP Compaq 6510b, HP Compaq 6910p, HP Compaq 8510 and the HP Compaq 2710p series will all integrate the Sprint Mobile Broadband service and technology into their hardware.
The 6510b notebook, the most affordable of the four, packs a low-profile, 14.1-inch diagonal widescreen display that HP claims has 30 percent more viewing space than a standard 15-inch diagonal XGA display. The 6910p has an admittedly impressive battery life of up to five hours and 45 minutes yet weighs only 4.7 pounds, and has a MultiBay II drive bay, allowing users to swap optical drives for increased storage or remove them when unnecessary for optimal travel weight.
HP’s Compaq 8510 series, notebooks that HP calls “mobile workstations” have video cards from either ATI or NVIDIA, and are capable of developing, recording, re-writing and playback of HD video, and can be configured with optional Blu-ray DVD+/-RW SuperMulti DL Drives. The 2710p notebook, an ultra-thin convertble that weighs only 3.6 pounds, features an optional integrated camera for video conferencing as well as HP NightLight, their backlit keyboard for low-light usage.
HP’s new business notebooks are expected to be available in October. The 6510b notebooks start at $929, the 6910p starts at $1,199, the 2710p starts at $1,599 and the 8510w Mobile Workstation starts at $2,049.
