Being one of the most capable mobile phones in the history; the Nokia N81 8GB will hit store shelves globally today with free N-Gage trial.

The anticipated Nokia N81 and Nokia N81 8GB multimedia phones are now available globally, sporting Quad-band GSM and EDGE for U.S. users and 3G connectivity for European users. Designed for the best in music and gaming, these devices come with dedicated music and game keys and are loaded with memory so you can store more and play more.

The 3D multimedia menu introduced in these devices is the first step to bringing a new user interface to the Nokia Nseries range. The new menu aims to make it easy to discover and enjoy your digital content and Internet, and share your experience with others. The phone comes with a 2.4" QVGA main color display (320 x 240 pixels) capable of showing up to 16.7 million colors. Furthermore, the Nokia N81 8GB comes with Nokia's well-performing Web browser with Mini Map.

With regards to connectivity, the N81 8GB offers Wi-Fi 802.11b/g with UPnP, Bluetooth 2.0 (DUN, OPP, FTP, HFP, GOEP, GAP, SPP, HSP, BIP, A2DP), micro USB 2.0 full speed (mass storage class), and a 3.5mm headphone connector. A 2-megapixel camera and VGA camcorder with video capture of up to 15 fps can also be found.

The Nokia N81 and Nokia N81 8GB also offer the discovery of millions of tracks through the Nokia Music Store. And, with their integrated Nokia Music Players, creating playlists and managing music collections on the move is a breeze. As for memory capacity, the N81 8GB comes with 8GB of internal memory, while the N81 offers support for microSD cards.

A preview of the N-Gage games service is also available in the devices, including playable demos of EA Sports FIFA 07, Asphalt 3: Street Rules and Space Impact Light. After the launch of N-Gage later this year, the full N-Gage application will be available for download. Players can try all N-Gage games for free and buy only the ones they want.

Nokia claims a talk time of up to 4 hours, a video playback time of up to 4.5 hours (QVGA), browsing time of up to 5 hours, music playback of up to 11.5 hours, video recording time of up to 3.5 hours with QVGA and gaming time of up to 6 hours.

The estimated retail price of the Nokia N81 is 360 EUR, while the Nokia N81 8GB is expected to retail for 430 EUR.
