With a familiar design and some exclusive content, Samsung gets Beyonce to strut her stuff with a new version of Sprint's Upstage phone.
The Beyonce phone, or B'Phone (bPhone?), is basically a rebadged Samsung Upstage, a phone we couldn't recommend when we reviewed it back in April. Now, the Upstage gets a new color scheme, in Burgundy and gold, as well as some unique original content.
When the phone boots, a special Beyonce-styled start-up screen will display. We're not sure if this is a picture of Beyonce herself, or some screen that Beyonce has chosen. Also, there are special pictures of Beyonce. Then, you get a song that Beyonce recorded when she was 10 years old. Seriously, 10 years old. Oh, and the phone says "Beyonce" across the top, in case you missed it.
So, clearly Samsung and Sprint are trying to sweep up music fans with this phone. Beyond young teenage girls and the president of Def Jam records, we're not sure if there is a wide audience, and frankly we were disappointed that the "limited edition" phone is simply a rebranded Upstage, but the phone is admittedly the most unique music phone Sprint has in its stable. Check out our image gallery for an exclusive Beyonce pic, as well as the phone and its unique packaging.
