Zune could breathe life into old Microsoft sloganBy Sindre Lia, 5 October 2007

Where do you want to go today? I want to go online wirelessly to download songs to my iPo..I mean Zune.

Well, wireless syncing you shall get then. Wireless syncing? What I meant was that I want to go online and download songs directly from my Zune. At the same time, I want to check my e-mail, log on to MSN Messenger and edit my Facebook profile - from my Zune, wirelessly, today.

You did ask what I wanted to do today, eh? Oh, we dropped that slogan many years ago, as the world wasn't ready to go anywhere yet.

Possibly tired of waiting 10-15 years for the rest of the world to understand the question, Bill Gates announced back in 2006 that he would "retire" in July 2008. Ironically, that's around the time when everybody will lust for a WiMAX enabled portable media device so they can finally go wherever they want.

So hopefully, his old slogan will finally find a new place in the timeline soon. Likely, accompanied by a Windows powered Mobile Internet Device with an "Intel inside" sticker, manufactured by HTC – but we wouldn't mind seeing a ramped up Zune concept either. In the meantime, here are the new Zune MP3 players that launched this week:
