Pentax adds two new offerings to its line of ultra compact cameras; the 12-megapixel A40 and the V10 with a 3-inch display.
Pentax has announced the Pentax Optio A40, featuring a 12-megapixel sensor, triple shake reduction (mechanical, digital and movie) and face recognition. The latter includes a natural skin mode and a half-length portrait mode, which automatically takes a head and shoulder photograph of subjects. The Optio A40 also sports a 2.5-inch LCD display and a 3x optical zoom lens. In addition, the camera supports MPEG-4 DivX movie captures at 30 fps, with anti-shake and editing functions. The Pentax Optio A40 measures 3.6 by 2.2 by 0.9 inches and weighs in at 4.6 oz.
Pentax also announced the Optio V10 (image gallery), an ultra compact camera equipped with a 3-inch LCD display, 8-megapixel sensor and a 3X optical zoom lens. Similar to the A40, the V10 offers functionality such as face recognition and digital shake reduction. The Pentax Optio V10 measures 3.8 by 2.3 by 0.7 inches and weighs in at 4.2 oz.
The Pentax Optio A40 will ship in October 2007 for $300 and the Optio V10 will ship in November for $250.
