Dell today introduced the first gaming notebook to feature the powerful AGEIA PhysX 100M processor.
Dell today unleashed the XPS M1730 gaming noteboook, incorporating the AGEIA PhysX 100M processor and Logitech's GamePanel LCD. The PhysX processor aims to deliver realistic movement and environmental interaction at incredible speeds without degrading overall performance. The GamePanel LCD allows gamers to view game stats, create new macros and track important system information without leaving the game.
The XPS M1730 supports overclocking of the Intel Core 2 Extreme processor X7900 to Bin+2 (up to 3.2GHz) and features NVIDIA SLI technology with support for DirectX 10 graphics. It is the first notebook to feature the AGEI PhysX 100M processor, and for a limited time every system includes "Tom Clancy's Ghost Recon: Advanced Warfighter 2" from Ubisoft.
Designed specifically for the gaming community, the XPS M1730 can be personalized with four color choices: Crimson Red, Sapphire Blue, Bone White and Smokey Grey. Dell engineered the XPS M1730 chassis to handle the thermal and power requirements of the most powerful next-generation graphics technology, and will offer a graphics upgrade program when next-generation graphics processor is available.
Other features include a backlit keyboard with separate 10-key number pad, a high-definition display with response time of 7 ms and support for Dell's LightFX application, allowing users to manipulate the system's multi-colored perimeter lighting LEDs.
Additionally, the XPS M1730 features optional built-in mobile broadband connectivity with a choice of carriers (AT&T, Sprint and Verizon Wireless), as well as Wi-Fi technology topped out by optional Wireless-N. Systems also include a built-in 2-megapixel Web camera and digital array microphone.
With a starting price of $3000, the XPS M1730 sports an Intel Core 2 Duo T7500 processor at 2.2GHz, 17-inch UltraSharp widescreen (1920x1200), 2GB DDR2 SDRAM, NVIDIA GeForce Go 8700M GT GPUs with 256MB and a 200GB hard drive. Optional upgrades include an Intel Core 2 Duo X7900 processor (2.8GHz) with support for overclocking to 3.2GHz (Bin+2), 4GB DDR2 SDRAM, Blu-ray disk drive and the choice of solid state disk drives.
