Mio Technology debuts C720t multimedia GPS navigatorBy Sindre Lia, Thursday 27 September 2007
Mio Technology today unveiled two new GPS navigators - the C720t with a 2-megapixel camera, and the entry-level C230.

Mio Technology today unveiled its newest portable navigation and entertainment device designed for those looking to maximize their travel experience. The Mio DigiWalker C720t combines the convenience of GPS technology with features including a 2-megapixel camera, real-time traffic updates, a 4.3-inch widescreen display, text-to-speech driving instructions and enhanced Bluetooth capabilities.

The integrated 2-megapixel camera allows users to embed GPS coordinates into images and navigate back to the photographed location. Business card recognition software is also included with this feature, automatically inputting data into your contacts list by simply taking a photo of a business card.

The C720t also comes with a Traffic Messaging Channel (TMC) cradle and three-month paid TMC subscription. Real-time updates, provided by ClearChannel's network of affiliates, can be viewed on the C720t's split-screen interface, which will instantly allow you to route around the obstruction.

The Mio DigiWalker C720t has a database of 12 million points of interest in its memory, and users can now customize the database by using photo-posting sites such as Google Earth and Flickr to load additional "PhotoPOIs" onto an SD card.

The device includes full maps of the U.S. and Canada, as well as additional map information for Mexico City, Guadalajara, Aguascalientes and major roads throughout Mexico.

The C720t also incorporates Bluetooth support and built-in media player for sharing photos, music and videos. In addition, the navigator bundles a car mount, USB cable and protective carrying case.

Measuring 5 by 3.2 by 0.78 inches and weighing 6.7 oz, the Mio DigiWalker C720t is available immediately for $600.

Mio Technology today also introduced its C230 entry-level GPS navigator, featuring a 3.5-inch display, 1GB on-board flash memory and text-to-speech functionality. Measuring 3.5 by 3.3 by 0.94 inches and weighing 5.08 oz, the Mio DigiWalker C230 will be available in October for $250.
