Sony today unveiled a line of fashionable, entry-level notebooks. The Vaio NR series starts at about $750, which is the lowest-priced notebook the company has ever introduced.
The new series is available in three colors: Wenge, a rich brown with copper accents; silk, a bright white with a matte finish; and granite, a silver hue with natural tones. The notebooks feature a textured chassis with a comfortable, fabric-like feel that is pleasing to the eye and cool to the touch. Their slim, modern design incorporates rounded corners and beveled edges, making them easier to insert and remove from a carrying case when on-the-go.
The NR models feature a 15.4-inch widescreen display with XBRITE-ECO LCD technology, which promises to deliver razor-sharp details and crisp, bold colors. The notebooks also incorporate an Intel Core2 Duo processor (on select models), and the units come pre-installed with Microsoft Windows Vista Home Premium.
In addition, the notebooks feature built-in 802.11a/b/g Wi-Fi connectivity, an A/V mode that launches a dedicated media menu, as well as LocationFree software to access for instance PVRs and DVD players to stream content via the Internet. The notebooks also come with a DVD burner, four USB ports as well as ExpressCard, SD card and Memory Stick PROTM slots.
The Sony Vaio NR series of fashionable notebooks will be available from SonyStyle in October 2007, selling for $750 and above.
