Looking to appeal to customers on a budget, Sony has released four PMP-connectable Xplod car audio systems.

pport, unlike its cheaper brethren, the CDX-GT420IP.Sony has announced today four Xplod in-dash head units, ranging from $80 to $130. The most high-end of the new line, the CDX-GT520 CD receiver, supports MP3 and non-DRM WMA and AAC encoded music files. It is also iPod, satellite radio and HD Radio-ready, and features front, rear and subwoofer preamp outputs along with a flip-down detachable faceplate. However, it inexplicably requires an extra adapter for iPod menu su

The CDX-GT420IP comes with an iPod control interface, and includes a 4.9-foot cable with a 30-pin connector made for most iPods (an option on the CDX-520 and CDX-GT320) and provides full menu control. The GT320 and the $80 GT120 provide even more affordability, although the CDX-GT120 does not come with the wireless remote like the other three, and provides no contextual iPod menus.

All three units feature an auxiliary input on the faceplate, making using your current PMP with the head unit as simple as plugging it into the standard 1/8" mini jack. They also feature four channels of 52 watt output.

The RM-X151 wireless card remote, standard with the all three models except for the GT120, is sold separately for $30. The XA-120IP iPod adapter--required for iPod contextual support on the GT320 and the GT520--charges the user's ipod and controls it from the head unit, and is sold separately for $50. All four head units are now available now. The CDX-GT520 retails at $140, the CDX-GT420IP for $130, the CDX-GT320 for $100 and the CDX-GT120 just breaks into triple digits with an MSRP of $100.
