Plantronics today unveiled the new lightweight Voyager 855 Stereo Bluetooth headset. At only 15 grams, the Voyager 855 claims the title as the world's lightest Stereo Bluetooth headset, in addition to offering new technologies such as mono-to-stereo switching and AudioIQ DSPi noise reduction.
More specifically, the Voyager 855 features a detachable stereo cable so consumers can listen to music via Stereo Bluetooth. When attached, the cable additionally enables wireless AVRCPiii remote control capabilities, and the headset is claimed to offer easy switching between conversations and music.
Without the stereo cable plugged in, the Voyager 855 acts as a normal Bluetooth headset for calling. Featuring AudioIQ technology, the headset then also automatically reduces background noise and intelligently adjusts audio levels to increase clarity on both ends of a conversation.
Plantronics claims a battery life of up 7 hours of talk time, up to 6 hours of listening time and up to 7 days of standby-time.
The Plantronics Voyager 855 Stereo Bluetooth headset will retail for $150 in October 2007. The Plantronics 815, a mono-only version, will cost $130.
