Updating the BH100, LG beefs up their HD DVD/Blu-ray player and straddles the line of demarcation in the HD format war.
LG announced their second-generation dual-format LG Super Blu player at the CEDIA 2007 Expo. The BH200 is the successor to the BH100, the first dual-format high-def disc player, which LG debuted at CES 2007. It supports both Blu-ray and HD DVD playback and can output up to 1080p video resolution at 24-, 30- and 60-frames-per-second.
The BH200 features advanced BD-Java and HDi interactivity, which LG claims gives their customers the widest variety of high-def content available on one player.
The BH200 supports MPEG-2, VC-1 and H.264 video as well as MPEG1/2, Dolby Digital, Dolby Digital+, DTS and DTS-HD audio. The unit also includes multiple inputs/outputs, including HDMI 1.3 out, component/composite video outputs, digital optical and analog audio outputs and a LAN Ethernet port for network interactivity. Full networked interactivity is available from selected HD DVDs, and the networked "BD-Live" interactivity is forthcoming in Blu-ray discs.
The BH200 will be available in October with a suggested retail price of $999
