Garmin's new 700 series of nuvi GPS navigators blends functionality with fashionable design.
Garmin today announced the nuvi 750, 760 and 770 GPS navigators, blending features and functionality with the fashionable form factor of the 200 series.
Each nuvi in the 700 series has a built-in FM transmitter, allowing users to wirelessly transmit turn-by-turn directions and street names, MP3s and audio books through their vehicle's stereo. The 760 and 770 also offer Bluetooth for hands-free calling when paired with compatible phones. These two models also feature Garmin's subscription-based FM traffic receiver, helping drivers avoid gridlock and adjust routes accordingly. The new 700 series also displays speed limits for many interstates and highways.
Like other widescreen nuvis, the 700 series boasts a 4.3-inch touch screen (480 by 272 pixels), and evolving from the design of the 200 series, the new navigators incorporate a high-sensitivity internal GPS antenna.
The nuvi 750 (image gallery) and nuvi 760 (image gallery) come preloaded with City Navigator NT road maps for the entire United States, Canada and Puerto Rico. In addition to those maps, the nuvi 770 provides mapping of Europe.
The 700 series also feature extras such as a built-in picture viewer, calculator, currency converter, unit converter and world clock. Garmin Lock provides added security by offering a 4-digit PIN code lock. Garmin has also added the ability for users to augment the preloaded maps with custom points of interests from third parties such as school zones and safety cameras. The nuvi 770 comes preloaded with European speed camera information.
The nuvi 750, 760 and 770 are expected to be available in September 2007, and will be selling for $600, $800 and $1000, respectively.
