TomTom's new GPS navigators will be shipping soon, boasting a range of service and interface enhancements.
TomTom today revealed its new high-end flagship models, the TomTom Go 920 and TomTom Go 920T. In addition, the company announced the launch of the TomTom One 3rd Edition in North America.
TomTom Go 920, 920T
The new TomTom Go 920 range offers the most-up-to-date maps of the United States and Canada and a seamless map of 41 countries in both Western and Central Europe, preinstalled on the 4GB internal memory of the navigator. Users can receive up-to-date traffic information via the RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver or through TomTom's own subscription-based traffic service. The RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver and a one year subscription is included in the box of the GO 920T model, while being sold separately for the Go 920 model.
Voice prompted address entry gives users the option to speak the address to which they want to drive, and the navigator will automatically calculate the route. The TomTom Go 920 range comes with the latest version of TomTom Map Share, enabling users to make easy changes to the map and to share map corrections with other TomTom users.
TomTom's new Enhanced Positioning Technology uses movement and gravity sensors to calculate drivers' positions when GPS signals are unavailable, aiming to provide a more continuous navigation experience.
Measuring 3.3 by 4.6 by 0.9 inches and weighing in at 7.8 ounces, the navigators also sport a 4.3" touch screen, SD card slot, built-in FM transmitter and an improved Bluetooth remote control. The TomTom Go 920 range replaces the Go 910/510 navigators, and users can personalize the navigators by recording own driving instructions, view documents, exchange positions via SMS and Bluetooth and select a favorite car icon on the screen.
The new TomTom Go 920 range will be available in Q4 2007 for $600 (Go 920) and $700 (Go 920T).
TomTom One 3rd Edition
Measuring 3.8 by 3.2 by 1 inches and weighing 6.2 ounces, the One 3rd Edition (image gallery) targets drivers looking for a portable navigation device. The navigator has received an improved user interface, providing options for customizing the navigation screen and providing easier access to overall functionality and quicker search tools. Just as users of the TomTom Go 920 range, users of the One 3rd Edition will get the new TomTom Map share technology.
The TomTom One 3rd Edition comes with 1GB internal memory, RDS-TMC connector for using an optional RDS-TMC Traffic Receiver, a 3.5" touch screen and "Help Me!" functionality. The latter provides information such as the way to the nearest hospital, car maintenance information and first aid instructions.
The TomTom One 3rd Edition will be available in September 2007 for $250.
