With the release of three cameras and an HDTV dock, Kodak joins the bevy of camera companies pushing HD on digital still cameras.
Updating their Easyshare line with two 12-megapixel cameras, the Kodak Easyshare V1253 and V1233 zoom digital cameras capture widescreen HD still images (16:9 aspect ratio) and video (720p at 30fps). Equipped with a 3x Schneider-Kreuznach optical zoom, face detection technology and digital image stabilization, the cameras are intended to take blur-free shots under most conditions. Images can be viewed in 16:9 aspect ratio on the 3.1-inch (V1253) and 2.5-inch (V1233) LCD screens.
With the high-zoom Easyshare Z812 IS, Kodak adds a superzoom (12x) lens to their HD digital camera package. The 8-megapixel Z812 IS also captures HD still images (16:9 aspect ratio) and video (720p at 30fps), but also has the capability to extract still images from videos on its 2.5-inch LCD screen. With high auto-focus accuracy, optical image stabilization and high ISO settings (up to 3200) Kodak attempts to make it easier to get great shots in low-light or fast-action situations. The Z812 IS also features face detection and smart scene mode for users inclined to shoot on full-auto, as well as manual controls for aperture and shutter speed settings for those who want a more control.
With the release of three new HD cameras, Kodak is also announcing their Easyshare HDTV Dock, to connect to your HDTV and view pictures from Kodak HD-enabled digital cameras, SD memory cards or USB drives. A remote control feature allows consumers to manage their pictures from across the room, or control a full HD-quality slideshow, edit individual images, transfer images to a USB drive or print images to a connected printer. Backward compatible with many KODAK EASYSHARE digital cameras, the HDTV Dock also automatically charges the camera's battery. For those without an HDTV, Kodak’s SV1011 digital picture frame provides a 10-inch 800 x 480 resolution digital display in 16:9 aspect ratio for photo viewing. Pictures are viewed automatically upon insertion of a memory card, and has 128 MB of built-in memory for storing pictures, videos and music, with built-in stereo speakers and headphone jack for music.
The Easyshare V1253, V1233 and the Z812 IS will be available by the end of the month and retail for $300, $250 and $300 respectively. The Easyshare HDTV Dock will be available in October 2007 for $100 and the SV1011 will retail for $200 by the end of the month.
