Sony answers Apple's iMac with a 22" widescreen HD all-in-one, including the Blu-ray drive that Apple forgot.
Featuring a floating glass design, the VAIO LT HD PC/TV allows you to watch and record analog, digital and cable television programming, including premium HD channels (when used with a required Cable CARD).
Part of a series, the LT PC/TV comes in both standard and HD configurations. The high-definition version features a Blu-ray disc drive for high-definition movie playback, as well as the ability to record, store and play back personal content on high-capacity BD media (up to 50 GB on a single disc).
Featuring a 22" diagonal widescreen display, the LT model can be mounted on the wall with an optional VESA-compatible mount. The A/V power button lets users shut down the TV function while the PC continues to run in the background, allowing the user to quickly turn the TV off and on without waiting for the PC to shut down or boot up
Sony has attempted to take the space-saving idea seriously, minimizing all of its wired connections by bundling a fold-up wireless keyboard, a wireless mouse, remote control and built-in 802.11n Wi-Fi. However, Sony has released hardware stats on the computer in a piecemeal fashion, saying only that it will have an Intel Core 2 Duo processor, 2GB of RAM, a "discrete" graphics card, a "roomy" hard drive and expandable hard drive capacity. It also features a built-in 1.3-megapixel camera and an echo-cancelling microphone for video conferencing, which requires a broadband internet connection. It will ship pre-installed with Windows Vista Ultimate.
Available starting in October, the LT standard model will start at about $1,900, while the Blu-ray LT HD model retailing around $2,900.
