Re-tooling the high-end of their Stylus line of digital cameras, Olympus announces three all-weather compact models.
Olympus has updated their Stylus line with the Stylus 820, Stylus 830 and Stylus 1200, three all-weather digital compact cameras with light-weight metal bodies and rubber gaskets throughout the interior to ensure that rain, sleet and snow stay out.
The Stylus 1200, Olympus’ most high-end model, sports a 12-megapixel sensor and a 3x zoom lens, while the Stylus 820 and 830 models come with 8-megapixel sensors and 5x zoom lens. The Stylus 830 also provides illuminated buttons for viewing in low-light situations.
All three models feature Olympus’ face detection and shadow adjustment technology, Perfect Shot Preview and Dual Image Stabilization. Dual Image Stabilization combines mechanical sensor-shift stabilization with digital image stabilization to compensate for both camera shake and moving subjects within the frame.
The Stylus 820 and 1200 feature a 2.7-inch LCD screen. Their in-camera editing features include: red-eye removal, resizing, frames, text options, color brightness and saturation adjustments. The Stylus 830’s LCD screen is 2.5-inches.
Olympus is releasing the Stylus 820 in September 2007, and the Stylus 830 and 1200 will be available in October 2007. The cameras will ship with a wrist strap, USB cable, AV cable, Li-Ion rechargeable battery and charger and a OLYMPUS Master 2 Software CD-ROM. They will retail at $250, $330 and $350 respectively.
