Pentax releases a zoom camera and a high-megapixel compact into their diminutive compact digital camera lineup.
Pentax today announced the Optio Z10 camera, a compact digital that features an impressive 7X optical zoom. The refractive lens in the Optio Z10 keeps the barrel from protruding from the camera while the lens hones in on a distant target. Additionally, the Z10 features face recognition, and an anti-shake system that increases the sensitivity of the sensor to counter increased motion. We prefer hardware stabilization, but we'll take it anyway.
The Pentax Optio S10 (see our image gallery) features a 10-megapixel sensor, up from the Z10's 8-megapixels. The S10 has only a 3X zoom, but can film videos that are DiVX certified, recording VGA video at 30fps. Both cameras feature a 2.5-inch LCD screen. Both will cost $250, and will be available in September.
