Expanding its portfolio of sleek and stylish cameras, Canon introduces the SD950 IS and SD870 IS cameras.
Canon today introduced two new PowerShot Digital ELPH ultra compact cameras – the 12.1 Megapixel SD950 IS and the 8 Megapixel SD870 IS (image gallery). Both cameras are designed with style in mind, offering aesthetic curves and colors.
The PowerShot SD950 IS (3.8 by 2.4 by 1.1 inches, 5.82 oz) is designed for point-and-shoot users looking for functionality coming in an elegant and ultra compact package. Continuing the ELPH tradition, the SD950 IS flashes a full-body titanium look and is slightly thinner than its predecessor. As for features, the camera sports 12.1 Megapixel resolution, 3.7x optical zoom with optical image stabilizer, face detection and a 2.5-inch LCD screen.
The PowerShot SD870 IS (3.7 by 2.3 by 1 inches, 5.5 oz) is another camera aimed at style-conscious photo enthusiasts, combining style with substance. The latter includes 8 Megapixel resolution, 3.8x wide-angle optical zoom with optical image stabilization, face detection and a large 3-inch LCD screen. Canon also claims the screen to be scratch-resistant and offering anti-reflection.
The PowerShot SD950 IS and SD870 IS will be available in September, selling for approximately $500 and $400, respectively.
