Sanyo released the NVM-4070 and NVM-4050, which both sport 4-inch touch screens and feature MP3 playback.
Sanyo today launched a couple new standalone GPS navigators in the U.S. and Canada. The NVM-4070, the higher-end unit, is priced at $500, and features a player for not only MP3 music tracks, but also MP4 video files. The unit has a built-in FM transmitter to wirelessly broadcast tunes from your GPS unit to your car stereo. Live traffic updates will be available through the Traffic Message Channel (TMC), which Sanyo will offer for free with a 90-day trial, but you'll have to pay for a subscription to use it longer.
The lower-end NVM-4050 loses the video playback, as well as the traffic from the TMC and the FM transmitter. Still, it retains the 4-inch, 16:9 widescreen as well as the voice directions for a reasonable $400.
Both devices feature Bluetooth for some pairing with your cell phone, as well as a 3.5mm headphone jack in case you want to take your GPS, as well as your MP3s, to go. Both devices will also take SD cards for external memory, and should be available immediately.
