AMD will soon offer an USB plug that enables DVR capabilities in notebooks; plus a combo HD tuner PCIe card.
With the external plug-and-play ATI TV Wonder 600 USB, a computer becomes a DVR for HDTVs. The USB tuner will also ship with a slim IR remote control and an A/V input adapter for video capture from a camcorder or VCR.
AMD's Catalyst Media Center software should integrate seamlessly with Windows Vista Media Center and Windows XP Media Center Edition, providing apps such as electronic programming guide, DVD authoring and playback, video conversion and remote access to recorded content.
Expected to retail for approximately $100, the ATI TV Wonder 600 USB will be available in September 2007.
ATI also introduced the ATI TV Wonder 650 PCIe card, sporting a combo tuner with DVR capabilities for desktop computers. Featuring ClearQAM technology for receiving unscrambled TV signals, the PCIe card also offers the ability to record analog tv content while wathcing digital tv content, and vice versa.
The ATI TV Wonder 650 PCIe card will be available in September 2007, with the price to be announced.
