Helio announced that YouTube can now be accessed on its handsets, including the Ocean, the Heat and the Drift, meaning that the Apple iPhone and the Nokia N95 will no longer be the only phones that offer YouTube videos. According to Helio, thousands of videos have been optimized for cell phones, with more coming each week until YouTube's full catalog is available in the fall.
Helio customers will not only be able to watch their favorite videos, but can also post footage they have shot on their phones, without heading to a computer. According to the MVNO, uploading videos to YouTube is a simple two-click process. Once you've signed up for a YouTube mobile profile and programmed your Helio Album, you just have to shoot your video, click on "Helio UP" and then on "Post" to share your videos with your friends.
YouTube mobile is a free application for all Helio All-In members, however, data charges will apply to A La Carte members.
Helio also announced that the MySpace Mobile 2 application is available for Helio's Ocean owners. The app allows you to snap a picture and automatically post it in bulletin to your MySpace buddies, without the need to set up photo hosting.
