These wireless speaker systems work with your iPod and connect wirelessly with Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum technology.
Soundcast announced a pair of wireless speaker systems with the OutCast and the SpeakerCast. The former is the higher-end model of the two, and features a weatherproof design making a nice option for jamming poolside. The Outcast has an integrated rechargeable battery for outdoor listening and can also be powered through an AC outlet. The speaker system features a cylindrical profile and includes an 8-inch woofer, four 3-inch frequency drivers, a 100-watt digital amplifier and the Soundcast receiver.
The OutCast also features the company's iCast iPod dock that connects wirelessly with the popular music player using Frequency Hopping Spread Spectrum (FHSS) technology over the 2.4GHz band, which Soundcast claims has little interference and provides clear sound. According to the company, the OutCast can transmit sound through several rooms up to 150 feet and up to 350 feet when used outdoors.
The Soundcast speakers also include an input/output jack to connect your computer and other digital audio players. The OutCast speakers feature dedicated controls for volume and music playback, as well as for song selection.
Soundcast also introduced its SpeakerCast wireless speaker system, which offers up many of the features included on the OutCast, except for the weather-resistant body. The SpeakerCast also uses FHSS technology to connect to the included iCast iPod dock and pumps out tracks with a pair of 3-inch drivers, 50-watt digital amplifier and Soundcast receiver.
The Soundcast OutCast and SpeakerCast will be available in the third quarter of 2007 and should retail for $700 and $400, respectively.
