The Intel-powered Toshiba notebooks pack in an HD DVD-ROM drive and an external HDTV tuner.
Toshiba unleashed its line of Satellite X205 gaming laptops, which serve up plenty of features, such as HD DVD-ROM drives. The high-end Satellite X205-S9359 also includes an external USB-powered HDTV tuner that can play live high-def shows from an antenna, cable or satellite set-top box. The X205 laptop also includes an HDMI port so you can enjoy HD movies on your HDTV.
The Satellite X205 series features an NVIDIA GeForce 8700M GT graphics processing unit and a 17-inch wide screen TruBrite display with a native resolution of 1440 by 900, which Toshiba claims will provide clear realistic details in faces, hair and settings of a game. The X205 also includes four Harmon Kardon speakers and a subwoofer, along with Dolby Home Theater technology for better sound when gaming or watching movies, Toshiba claims.
The laptops are powered by Intel Core 2 Duo processors, and include an integrated Web cam with a microphone and a fingerprint reader. Depending on configurations, the X205 series can pack in either 240GB or 320GB of internal storage. The Toshiba X205 notebooks also offer several connectivity options, such as Bluetooth 2.0 and Wi-Fi 802.11n connectivity.
The Toshiba X205 is also the company's first line of laptops to feature the Flare-Carmine glossy lid, which from the pictures looks like red and black tie-dye.
The Toshiba X205-S9359 high-end configuration retails for $2,500, while the X205-S9349 retails for $2,000. Both models are available immediately from toshibadirect.com and various national electronic stores.
