Toshiba today launched the new AMD-powered Satellite A215 series of multimedia notebooks.
The new Satellite A215 series are Toshiba's first AMD-based notebooks since 2000, featuring several variations of AMD's Turion 64 X2 Dual-core Mobile Technology processors. Focusing on multimedia functionality, the Satellite A215 notebooks offer an ATI Radeon X1200 graphics card, a 250 GB hard drive and a 15.4-inch, 1280 x 800 pixels widescreen display.
The A215 notebooks also feature 802.11 b/g Wi-Fi connectivity and 2 GB of internal memory (maximum capacity of 4 GB). In addition, you'll find a pair of built-in stereo speakers and a headphone jack, both supporting Dolby Sound Room technology.
Select configurations of the Satellite A215 series feature an integrated 1.3 Megapixel webcam, a fingerprint reader as well as Labelflash technology for burning images and text onto specially coated DVD-R disks.
The new AMD-powered Satellite A215 series is currently available at Toshiba Direct and computer stores nationwide, with the high-end Satellite A215-S4767 selling for $1,300 US.
