Focusing on design and multimedia, Toshiba today unveiled its new Qosmio F45 multimedia laptop. Featuring a slightly different standard configuration than the company's new AMD-powered multimedia laptops, the Qosmio F45's stand-out features are its HD-DVD drive and Harman Kardon stereo speakers with a subwoofer.
Sporting an HD-DVD drive and an HDMI port, the Qosmio F45 connects to HDTVs and delivers movies at 1080i resolution. By leveraging two Harman Kardon Bass Reflex stereo speakers, a built-in subwoofer and Dolby Home Theater technology, the Qosmio F45 claims to offer a vivid sound experience when playing movies, music and games directly on the laptop itself.
The Qosmio F45's widescren display offers a native resolution of 1280 x 800 pixels, and measures 15.4 inches diagonally. Graphics are powered by a standard Mobile Intel X3100 Graphics chip.
Additionally, the Qosmio F45 includes a built-in webcam, 802.11n Wi-Fi connectivity (delivering transfer speeds up to five times faster than 802.11g), a 250 GB hard drive and a 1.8 GHz Intel Core 2 Duo processor.
The Qosmio F45 series is available at Toshiba Direct and computer stores nationwide, with the high-end Qosmio F45-AV412 selling for $1,650 US.
