The device backs up your CDs and DVDs without the need for a computer.
The iLoad device can now load videos, copied from DVDs, directly to a video-enabled iPod and the upcoming Apple iPhone. An entire DVD can be copied in roughly 2.5 times the playing time, so an hour-long program would take about two and a half hours to copy. In our experience, this would be an improvement over PC-based programs which accomplish the same, so the iLoad has finally piqued our interest as a device even technorati might find useful.
The iLoad has been around for a while. Basically a standalone CD reader, the device allowed you to get music onto your iPod without a PC or iTunes. Of course, you lose the backup and synchronization capabilities that iTunes provides, but for those who simply don't want to use iTunes, the device offered another option. The device also manages a few tricks that iTunes refuses to perform, like iPod-to-iPod copying, and direct backup from an iPod to a USB drive.
The new DVD copying feature is available free to all iLoad owners.
