Sprint Nextel rolled out the Motorola ic902 hybrid phone that supports both iDEN and CDMA networks, and also includes 3G capabilities. The ic902 includes a plethora of multimedia features starting with access to Sprint TV, the Sprint Music Store and the rest of the Power Vision lineup. The clamshell also packs in a 2-megapixel camera, microSD memory expansion, GPS and Bluetooth with support for the A2DP stereo profile. The handset also offers up Nextel's walkie-talkie service, including Direct Talk, Group Connect and Direct Send.
The clamshell sports a sleek look for a Nextel phone and reminds us of the Motorola i880, but it's still a behemoth at 3.8 by 2 by 0.9 inches and 4.8 ounces. The flip phone is draped in a gray hue, and features a large 2.2-inch QVGA internal display. The ic902 isn't as boxy as other Nextel clamshells, but the stubby external antenna makes the phone look more old-fashioned than it is.
While the Motorola ic902 serves up more features than we've ever seen from a iDEN/CDMA hybrid phone, its $300 price tag with a 2-year service contract may make some wince; especially since you can get a Samsung SPH-M610, which looks cooler and has the same features sans PTT, for $80 with a contract. If you're an avid user of push to talk and crave a bevy of entertainment amenities, you can pick up the ic902 immediately.
