Kodak today announced the global launch of a new line of compact cameras, emphasizing style and value.
Kodak's top model in the new M series of stylish cameras, the M883, sports a 3-inch LCD screen, 3x optical zoom and 8-megapixel resolution. The camera connects to HDTVs, as well as provides support for ISO up to 1600, digital image stabilization, and video recording at 640 by 480 pixels. The M883 also includes the increasingly popular face detection technology, which is now more often found in high-end compact cameras.
The slightly less capable sibling, the M873, offers pretty much the same features, except for only offering a 2.5-inch screen and lacking the face detection capability.
Scheduled to launch in silver, black and red metal bodies in September 2007, the M883 will be selling for $229. The silver- and black-colored M873 will retail for $199 in August.
Kodak also introduced the M853 and M753 cameras, equipped with 2.5-inch LCD screens, 3x optical zoom lenses, digital image stabilization, and supporting ISO up to 1250. As the model names reveal, the M853 and M753 offer 8- and 7-megapixel resolutions, respectively.
Available in a variety of colors, the M853 will ship in August for $179, while the M753 will jump start the M Series availability by going on sale for $149 this month.
