The Toshiba Tecra M8-S8011 features a 1.3-megapixel Webcam and uses the Santa Rosa platform.
Toshiba introduced its Tecra M8-S8011 laptop, which has several high-end features at a pocketbook friendly price. The Tecra M8-S8011 includes Intel's Santa Rosa chipset, along with 802.11n wireless connectivity and Bluetooth 2.0. The laptop has a Mobile Intel Graphics Media Accelerator X3100 card to drive the 13.3-inch widescreen TFT LCD display's 1280 by 800 resolution. The Toshiba laptop also has a 1.3-megapixel Webcam and microphone on the LCD bezel for video conferencing.
The Tecra M8-S8011 also has Intel's Turbo Memory technology, which Toshiba claims improves battery life and reduces the booting times for programs. According to the company, the technology also helps the laptop run Windows Vista Business more efficiently.
The 13.3-inch notebook tips the scales at 4.5 pounds, but includes a built-in DVD drive. The Tecra M8-S8011 also has a few measures for protecting itself against a few bumps and bruises, such as a 3D accelerometer that detects when the laptop is falling. The hard drive has a vibration damping material and a vibration dome for addition protection.
The Toshiba Tecra M8-S8011 is available immediately and retails for $1,400.
