Besides GSM and an updated operating system, is there anything different about the just-announced Motorola Q8? Well, it's not available yet, for one thing.
Motorola today announced the Q8, a phone strikingly similar to the original Q. Even though Motorola hasn't officially stated that the Q8 will have Windows Mobile 6, the fact that the phone will be capable of "creating and editing Microsoft Office documents" means the new OS is a shoe-in. And that's pretty much the only upgrade from previous Motorola Q devices. The phone will support GSM and EDGE for data, but high-speed HSDPA is left to the new Motorola Q9.
Nothing to see here, folks, except the new name and the new OS. We're guessing the numeric addition to the moniker had to do with clarifying the difference between the Q8 and the Q9, nine being one better than eight, of course.
