The audio-centric company releases a home theater system complete with seven speakers, a subwoofer and a receiver.
Japanese audio gadget manufacturer Onkyo released its high-end home theater system, the HT-SR800, which features 7.1 channel processing for analog and digital multichannel audio and HDMI pass-through switching. The system's A/V receiver features processing for Dolby Digital EX, DTS-ES, DTS 96/24 and Dolby ProLogic IIx, which produces 7.1-channel sound from 2- or 5.1-channel sources.
The home theater system supports both XM and Sirus satellite radio (though this equivocation won't be necessary if the merger succeeds), and features an AM/FM tuner. The Onkyo system features 40 station presets for AM, FM, XM or Sirus stations.
The Onkyo HT-SR800's receiver has two HDMI inputs and one output capable of transmitting video at 1080p HD resolution. The receiver also includes three HD-capable component video inputs, three S-video inputs, three composite inputs, two optical and two coaxial digital audio inputs.
The HT-SR800 has seven speakers and a 230-Watt subwoofer, which can be calibrated with integrated Audyssey 2EQ/HTiB technology. According to Onkyo, the home theater system uses the technology to calibrate itself to any room for optimal sound quality.
The Onkyo HT-SR800 is available immediately and retails for $600.
