AT&T rolled out the Option GT Max 3.6 Express ExpressCard, which supports the carrier's expanding HSDPA network and EDGE. The card can also be used internationally in more than 125 countries where AT&T has data-roaming agreements. According to AT&T, the Option GT Max 3.6 Express can download a 1MB file in about 15 seconds.
The Option ExpressCard will fit in notebooks that have ExpressCard 34 or 54 slots, and it supports Windows XP, 2000 and Vista. The card features a rather basic design with a flip-up antenna and an LED indicator.
AT&T also announced that it will carry the Sierra Wireless AirCard 875U USB device (image gallery). Like the Option ExpressCard, the AirCard 875U supports HSDPA and EDGE and will offer the same download speeds. However, the 875U fits directly into a standard USB port on a laptop, and is compatible with Windows Vista, XP and 2000. Sierra Wireless will also let you download an Apple Mac client from their Web site at no additional cost.
The Option GT Max 3.6 Express is available immediately from AT&T and retails for $50 with a two-year service contract. The Sierra Wireless AirCard 875U will be available from the carrier on May 7, and should also cost $50 with a two-year service contract.
