Verizon Wireless won't be the only carrier to offer jet-setting BlackBerry, as Sprint also announces it will feature the handset in its lineup.
Sprint announced that it's set to carry the BlackBerry 8830 this July. RIM's CDMA/GSM hybrid phone will debut two months earlier on Verizon Wireless. The 8830 looks a lot like the BlackBerry 8800, which is available from AT&T and T-Mobile, and features a trackball and a thin profile at just 0.6 inches. The business-oriented phone also lacks a camera. The Sprint version of the 8830 will come in a dark gray hue, while Verizon's 8830 opts for silver.
While in the States, the BlackBerry 8830 will run on Sprint's EV-DO network and will have access to Sprint's Power Vision services. Sprint will also include an unlocked SIM card as the business-minded handset can also roam on international GPRS networks, so you can make calls in more than 170 countries and have data access in about 75 countries overseas. The BlackBerry 8830 will join Samsung's IP-830w on Sprint's lineup in supporting both CDMA and GSM networks.
RIM's BlackBerry 8830 includes a bevy of features, including a QVGA display, GPS navigation, a speakerphone, Bluetooth 2.0, microSD memory expansion, phone as modem capabilites, speaker-independent voice dialing, a media player and BlackBerry's push e-mail.
Pricing and specific release dates for Sprint's version of the BlackBerry 8830 have yet to be announced.
