Just about a month after AT&T released the BlackBerry 8800, T-Mobile gets its own version. The smartphone maintains its sleek appearance with chrome rims, a thin profile at just 0.6 inches and a Pearlesque trackball. Ironically, T-Mobile was the first carrier to pick up the Pearl, while AT&T followed. Unlike the BlackBerry Pearl, the 8800 sticks to business and ditches the camera for corporate settings that prohibit them.
The T-Mobile BlackBerry 8800 also holds on to most of its feature set with the exception of the push-to-talk capabilities we saw on the AT&T version. Another difference we found on the T-Mobile 8800 compared to AT&T's was its support for T-Mobile's myFaves service. myFaves allows you to make unlimited calls to any five people, including those with different carriers or landlines. The 8800 features messaging amenities, including mobile e-mail and instant messaging, along with calling features like a speakerphone, Bluetooth and voice dialing.
The RIM BlackBerry 8800 will be available from T-Mobile on April 23. Pricing has yet to be determined, but the same phone is available on AT&T's network for $300.
