The luxe handset gets a flashy costume change with 18-carat gold plating.

Nokia's fashion-conscious Sirocco handset line pumps up its style with a glittering 18-carat gold-plated model. The Nokia 8800 Sirocco differs from other fashion handsets we've seen like the Motorola RAZR V3i Dolce & Gabbana and the RAZR V3xx, which also feature gold shells, in that the 8800 Sirocco is encased in actual 18-carat gold, and not gold paint.

The Nokia luxury slider also sports white gold accents and a sapphire-coated, scratch resistant glass display that Nokia claims protects the screen capable of displaying 262,000 colors. The Sirocco Gold slides open to reveal a 2-megapixel camera and the handset's keypad. According to Nokia, the slider also offers a wide array of messaging functions. Nokia also states that a coordinating Bluetooth headset and desk stand accessory are available for the slider.

The Nokia 8800 Sirocco Gold is now available in select markets for €1000.
