Nintendo releases the Internet Channel on the Wii, powered by the Opera browser, including new zooming functions and more scrolling options.
Nintendo launched the full version of the Internet Channel on the Wii. The Internet Channel is powered by the Opera browser, and can be downloaded from the Wii Shop Channel for free until June 30. Thereafter, the Internet Channel will set you back 500 Wii points.
According to Nintendo, the Internet Channel packs in a bevy of features that make it very simple and easy to use, such as new zooming functions that allow you to either control the zoom manually or automatically to navigate through Web pages. Nintendo also served up the "outline font" feature, which allows you to read the font at any zoom level without blurriness. The Internet Channel includes Yahoo and Google as preloaded search engines and a dedicated search button on the toolbar and start page. The toolbar can also be hidden so that you can have full use of your television to display Web pages.
The Internet Channel also offers several scrolling options; users can either press the B button, or use the arrows for four-directional scrolling. The Internet Channel includes multiple cursors for when multiple remotes are being used and parental controls to limit access to the Internet Channel.
