UTStarcom introduced a bevy of handsets at CTIA Spring 2007 including the sleek 1450 candy bar (click here for image gallery). The handset resembles another one of the manufacturer's slim candy bars, the Slice, and is also rather pocket-friendly at just 4.4 by 1.9 by 0.4 inches and 2.5 ounces. The basic black 1450 serves up the bare minimum when it comes to features, including Bluetooth, a speakerphone and voice tagging. The handset also has a VGA camera and a mobile Web browser. While we didn't get word on price and availability, the press images do show Virgin Mobile branding.
UTStarcom also unveiled a pair of clamshells at the Orlando technology show, the CDM7026 and the CDM7076 (click here for image gallery). Like the 1450, the phones are compact and lightweight at just 3.1 ounces, but lite on features. The CDM 7026 is more bare bones than the other flip phone, and doesn't even include an external display, Bluetooth or a camera. The CDM7026 does offer a speakerphone and voice tagging.
The CDM7076 has the same measurements (3.7 by 1.9 by 0.7 inches) as the CDM7026, but includes a few more features. For starters, the CDM7076 does have a monochrome external display. The clamshell also includes a VGA camera, a speakerphone and voice tagging. However, like the CDM7026, this handset doesn’t offer Bluetooth, which we've come to expect from calling and messaging phones. Pricing and availability for the clamshells have yet to be announced.
