Following an increasingly popular trend, Amnesty USA today launched its new cell phone service called Amnesty Wireless.
Amnesty International USA today announced the next stage of high-tech philanthropy with a cell phone service powered by Working Assets that makes every call a call for human rights. From calls subscribers of Amnesty Wireless make, 10 percent of their charges will automatically go to Amnesty International, without costing subscribers anything extra.
Amnesty Wireless subscribers who want to do even more can find in each month's bill Citizen Action alerts, informing them of urgent human-rights issues that need their support. Subscribers can make up to 30 minutes of support calls each month for free.
Amnesty Wireless members can also call each other, any time, for free. New customers will receive a free LG 225 low-end handset as well as free activation and shipping, and Amnesty also offers to buy out subscribers' current carrier contracts with up to a $175 credit. More information on how to become a subscriber of Amnesty Wireless can be found here.
