Amp'd Mobile headed north of the border to Canada, despite recent industry concerns of general MVNO instability. Amp'd Mobile joined up with Canadian telecommunications company, TELUS, and is running off its EV-DO network.
With 3G connectivity ready to go, Amp'd Mobile Canada is offering voice, text and entertainment plans. Amp'd Mobile Canada also announced a plethora of partnerships that will bring more content to Amp'd Live, including MuchMusic, the NHL, MTV Canada, the Ultimate Fighting Championship, Adult Swim, E! and Fox Sports, along with French Canadian content from Musique Plus, Musimax and 33 Mag.
The MVNO will work in Canada as it does stateside, where customers select a voice plan and then add on one of three entertainment packages. The highest level multimedia plan, Amp'd Platinum, offers unlimited access to 20 Amp'd video channels, Amp'd streaming TV, Amp'd Radio, unlimited data access and unlimited MMS and SMS messages. Amp'd Canada is also offering music downloads for $.99 through September. However, there's no word yet on which phones will be included in Amp'd's Canadian fleet.
