The manufacturer updates its Exilim line with stylish, compact, point-and-shoot cameras.
The Casio Exilim EX-Z1050 picks up where the EX-Z1000 left off, with a few extra touches including a larger 2.6 LCD for displaying images. The EX-Z1050 keeps the high-end 10.1-megapixel sensor and the 3X optical zoom (we would have liked to see Casio bump up the zooming capabilities a bit). The camera can shoot up to seven images a second, but can only achieve this speed when shooting at 2-megapixel resolution.
The Casio Exilim EX-Z1050 is also an attractive, small camera at 2.6 inches wide, and will be available in silver, black, pink and blue, to suit anyone's style. The camera also features a 2.6 display to view your pictures, as well as edit them with the EX-Z1050's in-camera editing functions. For example, the camera offers the eBay best shot mode, which shoots photos in the optimized size for posting pictures on eBay. The Exilim EX-Z1050 will retail for $300, though availability details have yet to be announced.
Casio's Exilim EX-Z75 looks to be a "lite" version of the EX-Z1050. The former includes a 7.2-megapixel sensor compared to the latter's 10.1-megapixel sensor. However, both cameras include a 3X optical zoom. The EX-Z75 also includes ISO sensitivity ranging from ISO50 to ISO400, which helps take clearer images in low light or at fast speeds.
The similarities between the EX-Z75 and the EX-Z1050 continue in their appearances. Both cameras will be available in the same four colors and have compact profiles, but the EX-Z75 is actually a bit slimmer at 0.8 inches think versus the EX-Z1050, which is about an inch thick. The EX-Z75 also features a 2.6-inch LCD and similar in-camera editing functions, including eBay Best Shot. The Exilim EX-Z75 will be released in March for $230.
Rounding out Casio's Exilim announcements is the EX-V7, which also has a 7.2-megapixel sensor, but features 7X optical zoom. The point-and-shoot digital camera also includes manual digital stabilization for clearer pictures.
The company also claims that the EX-V7 is among the thinnest cameras that offer 7X optical zooming capabilities, with a profile of about an inch. The EX-V7 isn't as flashy as the other two cameras recently introduced in the Exilim fleet, as it's only available in staid silver, but it will also offer the same in-camera editing option as its Exilim brethren, along with the 2.6-inch LCD. The Casio Exilim EX-V7 will be available in March and will retail for $400.
