HP recently unveiled its mid-range Photosmart R837 digital camera. The camera doesn't boast any outstanding hardware features, but does include a respectable 7.1-megapixel sensor, 3X optical zoom and a 3-inch display for viewing photos. At more than an inch thick, the camera is a bit bulky, and it features a plain silver finish.
HP's real selling point in this otherwise bland point-and-shoot camera is its on-camera editing capabilities. Traditionally we find on-camera editing functions to be a tad superfluous, as serious photography enthusiasts edit their pictures on a computer. However, the R837 includes some options that we haven't seen before, such as a pet-eye fix, which removes the glowing effect from your pets' eyes. The camera also has a red-eye fix and photo-tagging for organization, which is compatible with Windows Vista. The Photosmart R837 will be available in April for $230.
