This iPod speaker system is designed for poolside listening and features an AM/FM radio, alarm clock and remote control.
The Hammacher Schlemmer Wireless Water Resistant iPod Speaker is a rather basic rectangle in black with a white border. However, unlike many iPod speakers we've seen (like Chestnut Hill Sound's George), your iPod doesn't connect directly to the speakers. Instead, there is a separate docking station that charges your iPod and wirelessly transmits your tunes to the speakers. Hammacher Schlemmer promises that the iPod dock can sit a full 150 feet away from the speaker and will pick up a signal. The three-inch, six watt speaker is only water resistant, so it can hang out poolside, but can't actually float around with you.
The Wireless Water Resistant iPod Speaker system is compatible with the 20GB iPod Photo, the iPod Video and both generations of the iPod Nano. The speakers include an AM/FM radio, an alarm clock, a remote control and three audio/video out jacks, which we presume could be used to display pictures and video from your iPod on your television, though why the speaker needs three outputs is a mystery to us. The speaker rounds out its specs with one audio input jack, to which you can connect a CD player or a computer. The iPod speaker also features an automatic shut-off function.
