Sony today added three new point-and-shoot cameras to its Cyber-shot W-series lineup; all with support for connection to HDTVs.
Sony today announced three new Cyber-shot W-series cameras, including the 12-megapixel DSC-W200 (image gallery), the 8-megapixel DSC-W90 (image gallery) and the 7.2-megapixel DSC-W80 (image gallery). All three sport Carl Zeiss 3x optical zoom lenses and 2.5-inch LCD screens wrapped in metal bodies. The new cameras offers high-definition outputs for connection to HDTVs, by means of separately sold component cables.
The new W-series models incorporate optical image stabilization, a range of in-camera editing functions as well as light sensitivity up to ISO3200. According to Sony, a Bionz processing engine enables speedy image processing and response times, along with extended battery life. On full charge, the W90 claims up to 350 shots, the W80 up to 340 shots and the W200 up to 270 shots.
The silver W200 camera will ship in May for about $400. The W90 camera will be available in March for about $300 in black and silver. The W80 model will hit stores in March for about $250 in pink, white, black and silver.
