Along with the higher-end, 3-megapixel K810, Sony Ericsson today also released the milder K550. A 2-megapixel camera phone, the K550 packs 64MB of onboard memory, and also accepts Memory Stick Micro card in its expansion slot. The K550 forgoes the K810's 3G networking in favor of EDGE, which gives us a better chance of seeing it stateside. The phone also lacks the Xenon flash of its sibling, but manages to shave an ounce and a few millimeters off its shell.
The phone features an autofocus camera, but lacks some of the advanced photography features of the K810, like red-eye reduction and image stabilization. Like its sibling, it features A2DP for stereo Bluetooth headphone support, a nice feature for a mid-range phone, and one we're happy to see on this otherwise photo-centric device.
The phone will come in black and white shells when it is released, but pricing and availability details have yet to be announced. There's no technical reason why this phone couldn't come to the U.S., so keep checking back for more details and, if it does arrive, our review.
