With 3G networking and a Xenon flash, the K810 takes photography seriously, but is it a one-trick pony, or does it have more to offer?

Sony Ericsson today beefed up their Cyber Shot line with the high-end K810. With a 3.2-megapixel camera, the K810 is firmly at the top of the Cyber Shot line. The 3G phone surfs the Web on UMTS networks, but unfortunately uses the 2100 band for high-speed, so U.S. 3G access is probably out of the question. The phone features advanced camera functions, like a Xenon flash, which is still a rarity on camera phones, red-eye reduction, image stabilization as well as auto-focus.

It's not all about pictures for the K810. The phone also features A2DP stereo Bluetooth headphone support, and 64MB of internal memory to keep a few pictures and music stored. An expansion slot accepts Memory Stick Micro cards, as well. The phone is not ultra-slim, at about 0.7 inches, and weighs just over four ounces. Pricing and availability have yet to be determined, though Sony Ericsson is currently describing its potential markets as "limited."

As a high-end camera phone, the K810 seems to parallel the just-released W880 Walkman phone, also a candy bar, though the W880 is about a quarter-inch thinner. We wonder why Sony Ericsson hasn't combined these two ideas into a super-phone with the K810's 3.2-megapixel camera, and the W880's advanced music functions. As phone manufacturers like Sony Ericsson scramble to beat the iPhone to market with compelling products, surely a high-end phone featuring all of Sony Ericsson's best features would be warranted.

Pricing and availability for the K810 have yet to be determined.
