Available now from Cingular, the CU500 marks the first handset in the U.S. to support HSDPA, a 3.5G data network with download speeds in the 400-700Kbps range, with bursts up to 1Mbps. Cingular's HSDPA service currently covers 19 markets.

Bearing a strong resemblance to the Samsung MM-A900 "Blade", the CU500 measuring a reasonably svelte 3.8 by 2 by .8 inches and weighs in at about 3.7 ounces. The jet-black clamshell come with dual 65,000-color TFT displays and a swiveling lens on the hinge for its 1.3-megapixel camera, which captures stills and video.

The phone also comes with Bluetooth (including profiles for dial-up networking, handset, handsfree, object-push, and stereo headset), an integrated music player that supports MP3, WMA, AAC, and AAC+ formats, stereo speakers, music recognition, microSD memory expansion, MP3 ringtones, a suite of instant messaging apps, and a speakerphone.
