Samsung SCH-A990 launch coverage
Measuring 3.8 by 1.9 by 0.8 inches and weighing in at a hefty 4.4 ounces, the EV-DO-enabled A990 makes for a relatively bulky handset. That said, we're impressed by word of it's swiveling main display, which turns 180 degrees and acts as an external viewfinder when you’re using the phone in camera mode. The A990 also boasts such camera-friendly features as an LED flash, auto focus, PictBridge support for direct-to-printer hookups, and a TV-out port. You can also use the camera as a business-card scanner or for shooting video clips (up to an hour in length).
The A990 also packs in plenty of non-camera features, including microSD memory expansion, Bluetooth (complete with headset, hands-free, serial and dial-up networking profiles), V Cast Video and Music support, external music controls, VZ Navigator (Verizon's GPS-aided point-to-point directions app), and voice dialing.
Available now from Verizon Wireless, the SCH-A990 retails for $400, or $350 with a two-year service plan.
