Nokia N91
Score: 87% When: May 2006 Worth: €675 What: Phones, Music phones
Not much holds the N91 back from scoring full marks in the music department; the lack of bundled quality headphones and stereo Bluetooth audio is about it. Otherwise excellent audio quality, an intuitive interface, comfortable controls and superb music transfer capabilities including Windows Media Connect support are all favoured traits, as is the massive 4 GB of storage - although we're a bit miffed by the rotund form factor. Voice and messaging capabilities are first-rate with the exception of a slightly cramped keypad, while the 2 Megapixel camera and browser are unlikely to impress. As a result of its varied feature set and hard drive reliance, battery life is expectedly average, but the N91 still outperforms the vast majority of music phones at the time of writing. More...

LG U890
Score: 85% When: June 2006 (Three) Worth: €1 What: Phones, Clamshell phones
The U890's appeal lies in its achievement of getting the basics right - with the exception of its poorly designed numerical keypad, which presents something of a bump in the road. Nevertheless, this clamshell packs a good amount of features into a slim form factor with 3G capabilities including snappy transfer speeds and video calls among the main selling points along with a nice display. Compared to higher-end models, the handset's browser, integrated music player and camera are of the mediocre sort - but as matched with its closest competitors, the U890 does quite well for itself. Motorola L2
Score: 79% When: December 2005 (AT&T) Worth: €125 What: Slim phones, Motorola phones
The L2 makes for a slim and light business companion for globe-trotting professionals focused on making calls and checking the odd e-mail message, and its Bluetooth support address-book syncing, and great battery life are all nice touches. However, more demanding chatters will frown at the weak display, lack of corporate or POP/IMAP e-mail access, GPRS-only data service and missing memory expansion. More...

BenQ-Siemens S68
Score: 50% When: February 2006 Worth: €130 What: Fashion phones, Slim phones
Light on features, high on fashion; although bereft of advanced functionality, the unarguably attractive BenQ-Siemens S68 candybar features a bright and crisp medium-resolution display which hosts a pretty and usable interface above a highly comfortable keypad. Performance, be it for text input, audio quality or Bluetooth headset use proved impeccable, and we certainly favour the anti-slip rear which nicely offsets the brushed aluminum front. Gripes, meanwhile, include a limited browser which is further hampered by GPRS being the sole option for packet data; a nearly non-existent media player; and the mere 26 MB of onboard memory available to users. Still, despite its general lack of features and a camera in particular, the S68 comes warmly recommended for those looking simply to text and talk in style - complete with a talk time in the range of 3 hours and 8 days of standby.
