Nokia E50
When: June 2006 Worth: €300 - €350
Read the full article » The Nokia E50 is primarily an excellent calling and light-messaging phone, and should be considered by those who fancy compact form factor and great battery life over advanced e-mail and productivity capabilities. That said, the E50 also shines with an excellent high-resolution screen and a powerful Internet browser capable of loading full-version Web sites. Read the full article » |

Samsung SGH-Z400
When: June 2006 (Vodafone) - €450
Read the full article » With video calling and 3G support, the slick Z400 makes for a tempting slider, especially if you happen to have a SIM card running on a UMTS network. We were impressed by the phone's top-notch screen, solid call quality and ability to access our POP/IMAP e-mail accounts. However, we wish the phone's messaging interface took full advantage of the generous 2-inch display, and we miss features such as instant messaging and voice calling. Finally, in our tests, the phone stumbled with its relatively weak signal reception. Read the full article » |

BenQ-Siemens SXG75
Score: 69% When: March 2006 Worth: €375
Read the full article » The main allure of the BenQ-Siemens SXG75 is its merging of phone and GPS functionality into one comparably compact device - a feat which it pulls off with reasonable success. Unfortunately, either aspect is revealed as mediocre when isolated from the other, and as such only users with an equal interest in both will find themselves content with the handset. Particularly worthy of note is the good battery life and audio quality, while quality-minded buyers will frown upon both the sub-par 2 Megapixel camera and the relative heft of the device. Motorola L2
Score: 79% When: December 2005 (AT&T) Worth: €125
Read the full article » The L2 makes for a slim and light business companion for globe-trotting professionals focused on making calls and checking the odd e-mail message, and its Bluetooth support address-book syncing, and great battery life are all nice touches. However, more demanding chatters will frown at the weak display, lack of corporate or POP/IMAP e-mail access, GPRS-only data service and missing memory expansion. Read the full article » |

BenQ-Siemens EF51
When: June 2006
Read the full article » For a music phone, the EF51 fails to impress. Although audio quality proved good, the music management capabilities of the handset were distinctly sub-par as compared to other dedicated music phones, while controls were difficult to distinguish and poorly laid out. In fact, the EF51 gives off a rather cheap overall feel, which is further solidified by its cramped display and 1.3 Megapixel camera. Lastly, we can't say we cared much for the push-through solution chosen for the music flip which affixes to the similarly so-so keypad. Read the full article » |
