Take one highly popular Samsung SGH-D600E, slap on a slightly more sober design and 3G - and what do you get? The SGH-Z400 slider, now preparing to assimilate European store shelves.
Following hot on the heels of the SGH-Z510 and SGH-E900, Samsung has begun shipping its SGH-Z400 slider to larger markets in Europe. Equipped with a 2-inch, high-resolution QVGA display and a 2 Megapixel camera, the slider is identical to Samsung's popular SGH-D600E in nearly all respects with the exception of 3G support. Our initial impressions from CeBIT revealed the newcomer to perform on par with its predecessor, which increases the likelyhood of Samsung gaining another best-seller under its belt.
In addition to its 2 Megapixel camera, the SGH-Z400 is also equipped with a front-mounted 0.3 Megapixel camera to enable video calling, as well as a media player supporting MP3 and WMA formats and a microSD card slot for extending the 30 MB of onboard storage. Also present is USB 2.0 with PictBridge support for transferring content and printing pictures, respectively, along with Bluetooth for headset and laptop connectivity.
Price and availability
Available now from mobile network operator Vodafone, the Samsung SGH-Z400 can be had for free and upwards depending on price plan.
